Kdenlive 26.04.3 is here, and it's the final 26.04 maintenance update
Kdenlive 26.04.3 is out. It is the last maintenance release for the 26.04 series. There are no new features. You will not find any fancy new effects or redesigned panels in this update. This is purely a bugfix and stability release.
If you are running 26.04, you should install it. The team has patched several crashes that were causing trouble. A crash when undoing sequence creation is now fixed. Another crash happens when you try to record audio without a detected device. That second one is probably going to save a few headaches.
Keep in mind that the security hardening effort continues this cycle. If your MLT framework sits below version 7.40, the previous build could execute unwanted commands. The MLT framework has been the backbone of Kdenlive for years, but keeping it in sync across different Linux distros and older Windows builds has never been a straightforward task. That is a nasty vulnerability to have. This release plugs the hole.
The improvements to the Rectangular Alpha Mask and Rotoscoping effects are also worth checking. The keyframe animation for rectangular alpha masks had been broken. It now works as expected. You can also move rotoscoping shapes after playback without restarting the monitor. Small workflow tweaks, but the ones that actually matter during a heavy edit.
Not cheap to keep an editor stable. But maintenance releases like this are exactly why you stick with open-source tools. You get patches without waiting for a quarterly feature drop.
