Bazzite 50 Published by

Bazzite Linux 44.20260914 shipped to the stable channel today, capping another weekly update to Universal Blue's Fedora Atomic gaming Linux. The standout change disables Wi-Fi power saving by default on the Steam Deck to cut latency, with Gamescope jumping to 3.16.28 and Nvidia open drivers reaching 615.71.09. A handful of other fixes round out the release, including MangoHUD VRR throttling, a CEC suspend bug, and KDE 6.7.5 polish. The update also drops four packages from the base image, among them mesa-libOpenCL, over an upstream packaging issue.

Bazzite Linux 44.20260914 ships on stable, kills Steam Deck Wi-Fi latency

Universal Blue's Bazzite has pushed a new weekly stable build to Fedora Atomic gaming Linux. The update, tagged 44.20260914, landed today and pushes the previous stable image 44.20260908 into the rearview.

It's a routine point release in the grand scheme of things. But it does bundle the gaming-critical stack all at once. Kernel. Mesa. Gamescope. Drivers. All fresh.

The one change most handheld owners will actually feel is a fix for Wi-Fi latency. Bazzite disabled Wi-Fi power saving by default across the Steam Deck image, and that's the headline. "Disable wifi power saving by default, this can be toggled back on in Steam Gaming Mode. Fixes issues with latency on a lot of hardware," the release notes read. It ties to PR #5795.

A new Gamescope number, and a driver story that cuts both ways

Then there's Gamescope. Valve's compositor now jumps to a new numbering scheme. You're looking at 3.16.28, which finally replaces the old 137.x git-hash line. A slightly odd transition. Worth knowing when the version shows up in your overlay.

Keep in mind that the Nvidia story isn't all good news for everyone. Open drivers get a big bump to 615.71.09, which is roughly a couple of major driver branches up from 610.57.04. Nvidia LTS sits put at 580.178.04, aimed at older Pascal and Maxwell cards.

The smaller wins

Beyond the version bumps, about 39 commits ran over the Sept 8 to 14 dev cycle. Several land as genuine fixes rather than just numbers shifting.

MangoHUD gets VRR frame throttling backported, which helps frametime control on variable-refresh-rate displays (PR #5794). Nvidia laptop owners get persistenced disabled by default, a change the notes flag can conflict with hybrid setups. If you run an HDMI-CEC HTPC, a bug that wrongly triggered suspend on wake is now closed (PR #5761).

There's also desktop polish. KDE moves to 6.7.5, the KDE TDP applet is now enabled on GNOME builds so handheld users can still tweak thermals outside Plasma, and Ukrainian translations join the desktop and the Bazaar app store.

Not everything got added here. Four packages got cut from the base image: mesa-libOpenCL, clang-libs, libclc, and spirv-llvm-translator. The OpenCL drop was explicitly due to an upstream packaging issue. It's not clear yet whether that removal breaks anything in your workflow, but watch for it.

Bazzite itself is a cloud-native, image-based Fedora Atomic build maintained by Universal Blue's Kyle Gospodnetich. It rides the Open Gaming Collective kernel, ships HDR and VRR by default, and keeps prior images around for 90 days so rollback is just a reboot away. It is not affiliated with Valve, Red Hat, Fedora, or any of the hardware makers it runs on.

If you're already on Bazzite and want this exact image, the move is a single command:

bazzite-rollback-helper rebase 44.20260914

Anything on an upstream Fedora Atomic Desktop can rebase straight from the container registry, though you'll pick the AMD/Intel or Nvidia branch to match your hardware. Signed images verify cleanly with cosign if you care about the chain.
