Help installing Linux on Sony Vaio

I recently bought a new Sony Vaio PCV-RS310: 2. 4B GHz Intel Pent. 4 80 GB, ATA-100 256 MB PC2100 DDR-SDRAM Intel® 845GV integrated graphics Current OS: WinXP home ed. I've been doing research and I've found nothing out there to try to find out which Lunix would be compatible with this desktop.

After Fighting with Sh*tdrake 9. 2 for a solid month now, I have reached the conclusion that The entire Mandrake development team should most definately be taken out and be executed in a most violent manner.

Allright, I'm trying to install redhat 9, but it seems that a hardware component is incompatible. I had an Inetgrated ProsavageDRR KM266 with 32 megs of shared video memory. (I know, it stinks) That seems to be incompatible with redhat.

RH AS server restarts every 6-10 hours.

has anyone experienced server restarts after 6-10 hours of in-activity. We are running Red Hat Advanced server 2. 1 (kernel 2. 4. 9-e25) on intel pentium 4 (x86) box with 2gb ram. Is there any property in the o/s or bios that does this, or something wrong with the o/s.

Ok, So i am getting close to getting these files i stored(8 gigs) on my laptop(win xp on a network with my comp) , the closest i've got is through naut using then the ip. It keeps asking my for passwords, the laptop has the files set to share though.

is there a patch that you can get for quake 2, quake 3 arena; team arena etc? that works on linux. . i have the regular windoze verson of them both and on idsoftware. com i can find nothing for linux these are each my favorite games and i would be sad without them.

I recently installed Fedora Core 1, kernel 2. 4 on my Dell 8300 which has an ATi Radeon 9800. I had some trouble just gettin the install to work, and what I eventually had to do was just unplug the mouse and install via text mode.

Internet Connection Sharing Between Windows 2k & Redhat

I was wondering about how to share an internet connection coming in through my Windows 2000 box from my linux box. My linux box is directly connected via an ethernet cable to my Windows 2000 box. The Win2k box is connected to my network and the internet via a Linksys USB Wireless 802.

Help,mouse cursor lost,Mandrake 9.1

All was well for a few hours,including a couple of reboots after a new Mandrake 9. 1 install. Next day,no mouse cursor visible. Moving the mouse does have random effects on the screen. The only change I made earlier was to configure the left mouse button to display a menu.

PS/2 Mouse Problems

having problems with a ps/2 version of a microsoft intellimouse (ball), no matter what type of mouse i install it as it still acts wierd. here's the story. . . everytime i restart the computer, i get back to the logon screen and the mouse goes ape-shit, i unplug it and plug it back in, it works fine.

I would like to Uninstall OpenOffice from my Mandrake 9. 2. system. Currently using IceWM as window manager. I ran the setup file as local user, and was able to uninstall the local setup for Openoffice.

In Mandrake Control Manager, I've selected the iceWM packages, and it installed of the ISO-discs. Now, on the iceWM homepage, I've found this : Quote:First make sure that you choose the correct X startup script in your home directory.
