FedoraCore-mouse or video?

This is a discussion about FedoraCore-mouse or video? in the Linux Hardware category; I recently installed Fedora Core 1, kernel 2. 4 on my Dell 8300 which has an ATi Radeon 9800. I had some trouble just gettin the install to work, and what I eventually had to do was just unplug the mouse and install via text mode.

I recently installed Fedora Core 1, kernel 2.4 on my Dell 8300 which has an ATi Radeon 9800. I had some trouble just gettin the install to work, and what I eventually had to do was just unplug the mouse and install via text mode. After I had done this, I tried to get into Fedora and it wouldn't get past the graphical loading screen and I had no mouse control. Because of some advice I received, I pressed "a" at the bootloader GRUB screen and on the next screen I typed SPACE, 3, ENTER. This allowed me to go into kudzu and configure a mouse. I then was able to enter into text mode and use the command "mouseconfig" which allowed me to choose my type of mouse. So, now I have a mouse and control of it and can even get to the graphical username and password input screen. However, after this screen, the system just locks and I can't do a thing. My system is using an ATi Radeon 9800, as I said before, and I've heard that this video card has caused problems with other Fedora users... I don't know what is causing the problem, and any help would be great.
