Following the recent release of the  Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel 8 (UEK 8)—Oracle's optimized kernel based on the latest upstream long-term stable kernel—Oracle Linux 10 includes  UEK 8.1. This underscores Oracle's continued focus on providing industry-leading performance and stability that organizations rely on. In addition, Oracle Linux 10 includes an updated Red Hat Compatible Kernel. These enhancements, contributed by both Oracle and the upstream Linux community, provide the performance and reliability essential to today's enterprises. Oracle Ksplice zero-downtime patching, available with  Oracle Linux Premier Support, is supported on Oracle Linux 10. It enables critical kernel and user space updates, including glibc and OpenSSL, without requiring system reboots. This automated live-patching technology delivers critical updates in seconds, helping systems stay continuously secure and up to date without disrupting running applications. With Oracle Ksplice, avoid business interruptions caused by forced reboots during patching, leading to cost savings and improved operational efficiency across on-premises and cloud deployments.

Enterprise-grade security for today’s infrastructure—and tomorrow’s challenges

For enterprise environments, where strong authentication and zero-trust principles are critical, Oracle Linux 10 presents a significant upgrade to OpenSSH with a range of security and usability improvements. These enhancements include keystroke obfuscation to help prevent side-channel attacks, expanded restrictions on key forwarding and usage to enhance credential security, and automatic closure of inactive SSH channels. Additionally, the SSH daemon has been rearchitected to separate connection handling from session management, helping reduce the attack surface. Systems using FIDO-based authentication can benefit from improved hardware key handling and enhanced safeguards against credential overwrites.

To further help organizations safeguard data and align with emerging cryptographic standards, Oracle Linux 10 introduces post-quantum cryptography (PQC) as a technology preview. This provides a set of next-generation algorithms designed to help resist quantum attacks. Among the expanded cryptographic tooling, the pkeyutl utility now supports encapsulation and decapsulation operations, including the new PQC algorithm ML-KEM (as defined in NIST’s  FIPS 203).
