KDE Plasma 6.5.1 released
KDE Plasma 6.5.1 has been released, bringing with it a host of improvements and bug fixes to the Plasma desktop environment.
Breeze-gtk has seen some notable changes, including a fix for corner radius backgrounds in Gtk3 menus. This should result in more aesthetically pleasing menu designs throughout the system.
Discover has also undergone some updates, with improvements made to query functionality on Plasma installations. Additionally, several crashes have been fixed, ensuring a smoother user experience when interacting with Discover.
Rpm-ostree has seen some modifications as well, including changes to how it handles tags and notifications for completed transactions. These tweaks should help improve the overall performance of rpm-ostree within Plasma.
PipeWire has received some attention from developers, who have worked to resolve issues related to building with older versions of FFmpeg (less than 6.1). This update should ensure that pipewire continues to function as intended on various systems.
Krdp (Remote Desktop Protocol) has also seen significant improvements, including changes to its KCM (component model) interface. Specifically, users can now toggle system users on a click rather than seeing no response. Additionally, a bug related to section delegates has been fixed.
KScreen, responsible for managing display settings and calibration, has received several updates as well. One notable change involves preventing the attempt to set an image description on Windows without a surface. This should help prevent crashes within KScreen.
KWin (the window manager) has seen some significant changes as well, including improvements related to its contrast effect, scene rendering, and plugin handling. These tweaks should result in smoother performance and fewer issues with window management.
Plasma Firewall has also received attention from developers, who have worked to resolve issues related to enabling and disabling the firewall on unavailable systems.
In addition to these updates, several other components within Plasma have seen improvements, including libksysguard (which now properly handles swap attributes), plasma-activities (with a focus on resolving issues related to continue_with and QFuture::then), plasma-desktop (which has received tweaks related to its KCMs, applets, and landing page), and xdg-desktop-portal-kde (which now supports modal dialogues and shows NoDisplay services).
Other notable updates include improvements to Spectacle (a screenshot utility) and Plasma Workspace, including fixes for issues with output devices, item rendering, and the wallpaper manager.
