The first alpha version of the upcoming GNOME 40 desktop environment has been released for testing.



GNOME 40.alpha Released

GNOME 40.alpha is now available. This is the first unstable release leading to 40 stable series.

This is the first release featuring the new versioning scheme. You can read more about it here:

If you want to compile GNOME 40.alpha, you can use the official BuildStream project snapshot. Thanks to BuildStream's build sandbox, it should build reliably for you regardless of the dependencies on your host system:
