Seems to work fine with Fedora Core 3 test 3, yes latest release (and tested with Knoppix LiveCD aswell) on one computer but on my notebook it doesn't. Epox 8K9A7I is the motherboard on the working computer.

Monitor conifguration problems

I am going through the pain of my first Linux install. I am trying to install Mandrake 10. 1 on my old Dell Optiplex, in conjunction with 2 even older monitors. The install has worked so far in that I can boot to a text prompt.

as i have decided to build a new system with amd processor i've found some problems on it. . . what is the difference between AMD ATHLON XP and AMD SEMPRON ? what should i buy amd athlon xp 2200+ or amd athlon sempron 2200+ ? mother board: asus A7V8X-X via KT400 chipset.

Dell SB Live! HELP ME!

I am running Fedora Core 2, 2. 6. 8, and can't get this dang thing to work. I have search forums and googled and found numerous replies, basically you need alsa vs. 1. 0. 6. synaptic and yum don't have everything for it.

LITE-ON compatibility

Good Linux to all. I have a burner device: LITE-ON DVDRW LDW-411S and with my Slack 10. 0 but also with the other distros I can't burn. At the boot and with 'dmesg' I can see the device but not mount.

WINE and Mandrake 10.0

I have installed WINE found in my Mandrake 10. 0 distribution. Mandrake also required a library to be installed at the same time and I installed XWine GUI. That's about as far as I understand how to proceed.

GRUB Hard Disk Error

Linux first-timer. I just installed Fedora Core 2 to a new second HDD; the first is run by WinXP. Now when I start the computer it doesn't boot anything. Instead, it gives the follwing message: GRUB Hard Disk Error.

I am trying to break free a windows and am very new to linux ,I have searched many forums and while this is the most common problem I can't find information that I understand/applies to me. I am running knoppix (debian) and am trying to get my soundblaster audigy to do anything.

Abit NF7-S v2.0 + Mandrake 9.1 + SATA crash

Hi, I've been trying to transfer my system from my 4 old faithful hardware raid-5 disks to two shiny new serial ATA drives (WD + Maxtor), following my recent upgrade to an Abit NF7-S v2. 0 MoBo. I successfully re-installed Mandrake 9.
