Hi So here I am trying to install Ubuntu. Doesnt work, but when I get it to work I will need essential linux apps I guess. So what is the most essential stuff you use on linux? Im a totally newbie when it comes to linux, so any advices on good software will be highly appreciative =) Cheers.

Linux USB Windows Compatibility

Im trying to put significantly large files on a large quantity of USB drives for students involved in ASB at my school. Can i use a Linux system to load the drives with the files and have full compatibility with windows OSs?.

/boot shows nothing and 100% full (corrupted?)

Hi Linux gurrus hope you all will be doing well. Well I am facing a problem first time in my sys admin experience. I am using RHEL-4, I am unable to access /boot partition. when i try to access this partion or want to show its contents, It seems /boot is corrupted.

Need help installing a keygen

I've installed Nero Linux 3. 0. 12 OK, but can't figure out how to install the keygen. I'm not very experienced at using the command line. The instructions are as follows: 1) open a terminal 2) chmod +x keymaker 3).

At work i have got my laptop with FC7. I tried to install our work's printer (on 192. 168. 2. 50) , here what I did : Through GUI, System>Administration>Printing> New Printer ,,,,but i do not what to choost to assign TCP/IP port to the FC7 PC.

Is there any difference? I have a new 80G Maxtor PATA 133 drive that will not work in an IDE caddy I have just bought. I have a new 80G Seagate Ultra drive that works fine in the caddy, just the same as all my old IDE drives.

Problem getting modem to work

I installed an internal PCI 56k modem that's design for Linux. I'm running Mepis v6. 5. 02. It picks up the modem just fine and I can hear it making the connection then I get the following error message: May 31 14:51:28 localhost pppd: Connection terminated.

Converting FAT32 to NTFS on a dual boot with 2HDD

I have 1st drive XP FAT32 and 2nd drive Fedora 5. I would like to change FAT32 to NTFS. If I format C: from FAT32 to NTFS it says it will delete all data. With that will it delete the boot loader Grub from this hard disk and then I would not be able to dual boot to the 2nd drive which has Fedora 5?.

Dual Boot problem, 2 HDDs 1-XPpro 2-FC5

I need advice with finishing installing FC5. During installation when it goes to reboot, XP loads and I do not get an option. Two HDDs Master-Active-XPpro Slave-FC5 I did choose for GRUB to be in MBR.
