I installed an internal PCI 56k modem that's design for Linux. I'm running Mepis v6.5.02. It picks up the modem just fine and I can hear it making the connection then I get the following error message:

May 31 14:51:28 localhost pppd[6126]: Connection terminated.
May 31 14:51:28 localhost pppd[6126]: Receive serial link is not 8-bit clean:
May 31 14:51:28 localhost pppd[6126]: Problem: all had bit 7 set to 0
May 31 14:51:28 localhost pppd[6126]: Modem hangup
May 31 14:51:28 localhost pppd[6126]: Exit.

Apparently, I need to set the modem to 8N1, whatever that is. I'm using KPPP. Does anyone know what I need to do here? Thanks.
