Greetings All, First up help needed with Mandrake

Well First up after having a look at some of the threads here im impressed with the knowlage, experiance that is gathered here. Ok I have just gone through some old computers laying around my house and I came across a Dell Pentium Pro 200 128Mb RAM 4Gb HDD Voodoo2 Helios expansion video card running Mandrake 7.

Hardware problems...

I can't seem to find a working linux compatible driver for my gineric rockwell sound card. i don't know the model number or anything, i just need a list of drivers for linux if they have any. (can't even find the rockwell international website!) And one more thing.

Well, I've made up my mind (or whats left of it)! Fedora Core 3 has got to GO! As I have said in the other thread, this OS is probably very good, but I am an amature, and I do have an older computer.

I'm New Here, if Fedora 3 is a more capable OS than XP why........

cant' I use it? I am new to computers, I have an old HP 233, with a 60 gig hard drive, 192 mb of ram, and yes, I know I could use a new machine, but this has been inexpensive to learn on! I had 98SE on this machine originally, but it kept crashing.

I am a new user of fc3 and after installing the OS i have a problem finding the link for the floppy. when i enter the computer link on the desktop i can see only my dvdrom dvdwriter the disk and the network icon.

As you well know, from time to time I post my experiences with different distro installs and testing. I tried Redhat 9. 0 a long time ago and had nvidia and rpm problems. I just tried Fedora Core 3 the other day and nothing has changed.

i have aproblem in joining my WinXP Pro in an smb domain running as a PDC. The computer name of my linux is crypt and the workgroup name in smb is cynical. when i ping crypt there is a reply but when i tried to ping crypt.

Hi I have a problem with installing Mandrake linux 10. 1 v on motherboard ASROCK P4i45GV with 2. 0 ghz Celeron I boot from 1 CD then i chose Install or Upgrade. . . then during text mode, few seconds before installing in graphic mode computer freeze.

Can I install linux programs on Redhat ?

I recently decided it wouldn't be a bad idea to switch to linux, and as such downloaded something that someone recommended to me, suse 9. 1 personal. Seeing as I have dialup and I knew I had a winmodem I expected trouble, and that's exactly what I got.

installing redhat 9.0 from a .rar file on a cd

Hi. I have downloaded redhat9. 0 from a mirror site and it is in. rar format. I want to install it on my laptop. 1. the extension of the file is iso but it is a winrar file. I put my laptop to boot from the cd but it starts windows again.

Suddenly turns off

Hi there, i am ussing linux on my laptop since 9. 0 and every time I installed Linux it is somehow turning off after a few minutes. My battery isn't empty at all so it couldn't be that. My laptop is an old Compaq Armada 1750.

Modified FSTAB?

I using Knoppix 3. 7 and I have trying to get rid of some NTFS mounts that knoppix automatically mounts. I have tried to delete the line that mounts the specific partition in the fstab, but when I restart my computer the partition comes back again, or mounted.
