Here's my hd. . hda1 - /boot hda2 - / (Fedora Core 1) hda2 - /home hda5 - swap hda6 - / (Fedora Core 2) I just added Core 2 to my hd, and did not install grub since I didn't want to destroy my existing configuration.

Replace RedHat9 with Mandrake10

What's up guys/gals, I have a question. I'm running a dual-boot system with WindowsXP and RedHat9. I want to replace The RedHat9 partitions with Mandrake10. I am using the GRUB boot-loader. Last time a tried this, It completely lost my WindowsXP boot information, so i had to completely reformat.

If you installed Mandrake 10 and after reboot mouse doesn't work or computer appears to have locked up ; 1. Use 'tab' key to select Configuration Tools in the Welcome to Mandrake Linux window that should be in the center of your screen.

installing "wine" problems

Hey I got trouble installing WINE. . Im using Mandrake 10 with KDE 3. 2 and got the package wine and winelib from the CDs. . I used Install Software tool to get it. . sooo, I write wine notepad and get this long thing, which I paste in parts of under this text.

Hey I started out with Mandrake 10 not so long ago. I finally found a linux that detected my network and graphic cards after not even getting started with others. However its freezing and locking up on me alot, and im rebooting nonstop.

Mandrake 10 Install Questions

So i'm running mandrake 9 now and i want to upgrade to 10. I download the 3 iso's and made cd's in Nero. I take the first cd,put it in, reboot, set BIOS to boot to my cdrom, reboot,and the mandrake install never pops up, it just boots to 9 like normal.

Fedora Core 2...maybe!

I just did the worst possible install senario of Fedora Core 2, an upgrade install. Mind you, I have played and upgraded FC1 on my system at will. The install took about one hour on my AMD 1800+ processor, a bit of time.

Trouble installing Mandrake w/ Windows XP

Ok, I am completely new to Linux. I thought I'd give it a try. I downloaded the ISO files for Mandrake and burnt them to discs. When I try to reboot my machine w/ the discs in I get nothing. It autimatically goes straight to my Windows log on screen.

The new Mandrake 10 ISOs provide 3 images available for download. I have CD1 and 2 but having trouble getting the 3rd. Is it required for a useable install?.

Fedora Core 2 and Windows XP dual boot...caution!

It has been reported by a user on that Fedora Core has an apparent problem setting up dual boot systems with windows XP. Others have posted on this forum problems with Mandrake 10 installs and partition issues, myself included.

After I booted and I have a screen with: welcome to Mandrake linux 10. 0. . . Alt F1 for here alt F3 to see the logs Alt F4 for kernel msg ANd nothing happen, even if I press Alt F1 ,alt F3 or Alt F4 How can I solve this problem?.

Erasing a Linux hard drive

Hello, I haven been here in quite some time. . . anyway, I recently reinstalled Windows and ever since I havent been able to get linux to boot and my Boot Manager isnt working. . . Does anyone know how to erase a harddrive with linux on it (with only access to command promp)? Thanks in advance, Jabird.

i have win xp pro, with a maxtor hard drive and ati card. recently i started geting delay-write-failure errors and problems writing to $mft. ive decided to reformat and do a fresh install since i am positive this should fix the problem.
