Help with Yum

Where do I change the location of the server for getting my yum updates, I think the problem is that the YDL server is too busy and I wanted to use a mirror. Is there a config file somewhere I can add or change the URL? I'm getting a err -2, Name or Service not known Plus I can't 'browse' to that site.

Hello I am trying to set up a dual boot system with Windows XP on one HDD and Red Hat 9 on a second one. Originally, my computer just had Windows XP Home installed on it, and only one HDD. Since I do not have the time to back up all my information, or do any reinstalls of Windows, I decided to play it safe.

I got Mandrake 9. 1 on my desktop and I want to know if I can see folders and files in the windows partition, because Im tired of burning cds on windows and use them when linux is up. .

Hi I have installed mandrake 9. 1 - all went fine. Initially tried to use KDE as the default GUI - Once tried to boot up it seemed to get to the GUI interface (had a blue screen) then it seemed to hang up.

I have had mandrake 9. 0 installed in my VAIO laptop for some time now. For reasons I don't want to get into, I have had to reinstall both windows and mandrake. For some reason now I am having trouble getting X to work properly.

Serious problem while booting from my Mandrake 9.1 /9.2rc CD

When I boot the Mandrake 9. x cd, and press Enter, it tries to run kernel 2. 2. 24 (mandrake 9. 1 and 9. 2rc) and my system crashes. If I choose to boot with the alt kernel, 2. 2. 18 or 2. 2. 19, everything goes well but when I reboot after the installation proces, it's still trying to boot with 2.

Mandreake 9.1 on New Toshiba Laptop

Okay, I installed Mandrake 9. 1 on my Toshiba 5205-S705. The install went just fine except that when I try and start x, I get a black blank screen. I think x is running just fine, but I got nothing. I have no idea what is going on.

Linux will not boot past "INIT: version 2.84 booting!

Hey, I installed Linux Redhat 8 yesterday from a CD and it installed fine! I then tried to boot it and it stopped at INIT: version 2. 84 booting. I do not know how to get it to start booting past that.

Hey, I'm brand new to Linux. I'm pretty sick and tired of Windows in general because it's just a pain the the @$$. Originally when I decided I wanted to switch to linux I did my reading a chose Mandrake as I thought it would be the best option for me.
