Mandreake 9.1 on New Toshiba Laptop
This is a discussion about Mandreake 9.1 on New Toshiba Laptop in the Everything Linux category; Okay, I installed Mandrake 9. 1 on my Toshiba 5205-S705. The install went just fine except that when I try and start x, I get a black blank screen. I think x is running just fine, but I got nothing. I have no idea what is going on.

I have no idea what is going on. I chose 1600x1200 Flat Panel display and the drivers for Ge Force FX (I have a Ge Force FX 5600) @ 24bit. I checked the config file and it shows the nvidia to be set to 16x12, but I am not sure if the monitor looks right. Has something about Sony Vio in the comments.
Anyway... any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

don´t worry about the sony thing it´s there on all mandrake installs. scroll down a little further and you should see a section call ¨Device¨ in this section the Driver should be ¨nv¨ (with the quotes).
