Keeping Fedora 4 applications working when kernel is updated

I did a reinstallFedora 4and installed RealAudio10GOLD and JAVA (for Mozilla, to view videos in news websites). Neither will come up now after doing a yum -y update, which apparently included a kernel update.

I did a reinstall--Fedora 4--and installed RealAudio10GOLD and JAVA (for Mozilla, to view videos in news websites).

Neither will come up now after doing a "yum -y update," which apparently included a kernel update. (2.6.14-1.1637_FC4)

What do I do to keep these apps and others current with kernel updates?

thx.

The apps should work with the kernel update. The problem might be caused by other updates.

One way to check this is to run the older kernel. If the apps work you know what the issue is. If they do not, then I bet KDE was updated and caused some issues.
