Kernels? Upgrades?

I am running Mandrake 10. 0 Official with the 2. 6. 3 kernel, is there any need to upgrade to a newer kernel or to 10. 1? And what are the risks? For example if you upgrade the Xfree, I found I had to reinstall the Nvidia drivers.

Anyone planning to update their kernel to 2. 6. 8 or 2. 6. 8. 1 should be aware that it 'will' trash your Reiserfs volumes. I've had this happen to me, and, I know of at least one other user who had the same happen to him.

Installing Linux 7.3 on Dell 650

Currently trying to load Linux 7. 3 on a DELL 650. Have tryed on IDE drives and SCSI drives. There is no problems with the installation in either scenario. When installation is complete and the machine starts to boot, they hang at the end.

I am trying to find out the exact value for the Vertical Refresh so i can change it ( if needed ) to another value. In /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 there is just the interval in which my monitor is able to run , but no exact value for the current] screen.

I Have Debian 3. 0r2 I wanted to install Lilo on a Floppy. . . . . . but i didn't find any option to do this. So i made a boot disk. . . . . . but that contains the kernel. . . and it takes some time for the OS to start.

I have this strange problem on SLES9. Things I did: telnet from a SLES9 (A) machine to SLES9 ( su to root export DISPLAY=A:0. 0 When I try to bring up yast2 I get the error y2controlcenter:cannot connect to X server.

Hello, I recently went to the RHN. org and updated what I thought would be an improvement to my Fedora2. After I did this, my ability to use the up2date (Alert Icon) has since come to a standstill.

hi guys!! i had a copy of the call of duty game awhile ago and then everything was fine. i then went and lost the game so i had to buy it again. i installed it all ok but when i go search for servers it keeps saying waiting for master server.

Triple booting with XP/Server 2003/RHEL3

I would like to know if there is a way to boot WinXP/Server 2003/RedHat Enterprise Linux on a system that has 3 hd's in it. One drive has XP, one has Win Server 2003, the other I would like to install RHEL3 on it.
