Fedora 1 Modprobe messages

When Fedora 1 boots I get a lot of modprobe messages cannot find block-major-nnn for various nnn. These happen when it is checking for new hardware. This does not prevent the system booting but it would be nice to stop this.

I am trying to boot Fedora C2, but for some reason there is no xorg. conf fle to tell it what video and mouse settings to use. what would I type in Vim to create my own xorg. conf file. (I don't know the syntax) Help Please!.

How to Burn Mandrake on CD

Hi I am very new to linux. I just finsihed downloading mandrake 10. And when I extracted the files it all came out in folders. I though it was going to be 3 iso. files that I could just burn on to a cd.

Have you seen or read Agustin's Linux Manual -the Series if yes I bet you loved it. My teachers at school asked me for a copy of it and I gave it to them. They were very excited when they saw how easy it was to follow directions from these manuals.

Fedora install problem

I just finished burning the Fedora iso's. It starts to boot from the first cd, then I get a bad media/check cable error. Are the iso's bad?.

Apache & Loging Web Farms I have multiple load-balanced servers and I want to generate one web report for the whole farm, but each server generates its own log file Webalizer will not work the log files are 500Gb's each I get about 160 hits a sec Is there some other software out there what will work with very big logs?

Dual Boot Windows ME/Fedora Core 1: Adding WIndows XP

I had a dual boot system with Windows ME and Fedora Core 1, both on disk 1 (60 Gbyte), controlled by GRUB in the MBR of disk 1. I wanted to add in Windows XP, to be able to run coLinux, which does not run on Windows ME.

Fedora Core2 wont start Xserver

I can't get FC2 to boot. It brings me to, localhoas: login and I have to put in root and PW then I type startx and it give me the error cannot start xserver, cant configure pointer device. I have tried to select my mouse from the config list, but it still hangs tryin to display the desktop.

You know the problem. I have Red Hat 9. 0. Since It is an HSF modem, so Linux does not support it. I live in a third-world country(no broadband), so I don't want to pay for a driver. especially 15 USd for JUST a driver from linuxant.

Mandrake 10 Hangs Durring Boot

Mandrake 10 Hangs Durring Boot. Durring boot it keeps trying to disable IRQ #11 just before it runs some part of the software intill it fianally gets to localhost mylogin: login: Disabling IRQ #11 and then it is stuck in a rut trying to disable the IRQ.

I just installed Mandrake 10 on my secondary hard drive on a Soyo Dragon Platinum motherboard. Problem #1 - Highpoint raid After several fails on install (mkinitrd failed when installing the bootloader) I then fell on the issue with highpoint raid drivers on install.

Hey folks, I've just purchased SuSE Linux 9. 1 Professional because I heard it came with plenty of WinModem drivers, and also came with a Lucent LT WinModem driver (driver version 9). . . That page only lists Mandrake 8.

Hi I'm traing to install Fedora Core 2 in addition to Windows XP OS. I have partitioned my WD 80GB hard in 5 partition with 1 first partition for WinXP and the second partition in another 4 segment (1 for WinXP and 3 for Linux (/, swap, /home)).

Konsole doesn't work in X11

Hey - this is the first time I have encountered a problem like this. Whenever I try to start any kind of shell or konsole, it opens fine, and menus and such work, but there is no way to type. The text portion remains blank.
