Hi everyone i have a old computer, it has a ECA motherboard. . . . currently it has a PII cpu (slot 1). . . ya i know its really old. . but i heard i could put a PIII on it. . . but in order to put it i have to update the bios.

I am new to linux but not computers. I recently installed fedora core 2. What are some of the basic's of linux. perhaps someone could link me to some good resources. cheers ps. will my WPC54G Laptop wireless NIC card work with Fedora? I was curious as to whether anyone has written any drivers for it.

Mandrake Install Question...

I apologize if I sound like a complete n00b, but that's because I am. A couple of years ago I started messing around with linux and decided to choose Mandrake. I kinda lost intrest with it because I didn't now jack and finding info was hard to do with a dialup connection.

So now you can watch Simple Life 2, American Idol XIV, Average Joe 15, Geek Date 4, So I Married a Cow 2 and CNN at work using work computers. Ha, I like it already. Seems like we're going to have to get Phillip to create joke and/or sarcasm tags for use when posting.

Morning all, I have an interesting situation to have discussed. I own a copy of Age Of Empires II Gold edition (original and expansion) however I appear to have lost the expansion pack (Conquerers) cd in moving house, thus being inadvertant loss or damage.

problem with TORCS

I installed TORCS using RPMs and i installed the game data , tracks and robots packages. However, whenever i start the game and select a race, the game shuts down automatically and i get this error msg on the console.

Burning DVDs in Linux

My first DVD burner was in a Toshiba laptop I used only with the isntalled OS WinXP (using at home my Linux box). I recently purchased a DVDRW for my Linux box and I'm not sure what programs are available that can compress video for copying a 8GB DVD to the 4.

Fedora Core 2, Which Wireless card?

I just installed Fedora Core 2 on my laptop (compaq presario 2100, if that helps) and I'd like to know what would be the EASIEST wireless card to get working on it? It has to be 11mb and either B or G though, I think, since that's what my router supports.

mandrake 9.0 install

Newbie question. Have just tried to install Mandrake 9. 0 onto a separte drive in my system. It locks up at the video selection portion. After trying several things to try and uninstall 9. 0 on this drive my computer has finally gotten tired of me messing around and no longer even recognizes the drive.

Newbie, Sagem Fast 800 modem, ADSL, won't work!

Hi, I am completely new to Linux and have downloaded and installed Mandrake 10. 0 from ISO. It came on 3 CD's and installed perfectly. However it won't 'see' my Sagem Fast 800 ADSL modem. As i said i am a newbie and apart from the odd 'ls', 'cd' and maybe an odd 'chmod', i know little about linux.

Urgh The worst thing about Linux is you spend your life trying to read documentation and afterwards you STILL feel clueless. I'm having problems with getting sound on Skype. After a LONG session till well past midnight, I managed to get Skype for Linux working ( ) but it is the version with Qt compiled in.

I have finally decided to experiment with linux. I now have an intel processor with hyper threading and windows 2000 doesn't support it. I don't like microsatan windows xp so now seems like a good time to do this.
