Trouble installing mandrake 9.2

I'm trying to install MD 9. 2. I'm running Windows XP pro on a P4 3,2 with RAID and a LOT of stuff. . . The installation starts normal, but when it's going in to second stage install, it freezes. Can anyone tell me what i'mn doing wrong?.

I have a toshiba satellite S105 laptop and i have always want to put a debian distro on it. I really want to learn how to use debian. So far the biggest problem i ran into is xfree and my wireless network.

Setting up Linux as SSH server

Hi, I have been able to connect to other SSH servers(easily) from my Linux machine (Mandrake 9. 1), but dont know how to set up my machine to be a SSH server. I dont want to compromise any security.

Problem 1: I installed Mandrake Linux 10. 0 (Community) as a dual boot with Windows on my other PC and tried it with this one, didn't work, Windows is now dead (I did something I knew would hurt it, a revenge thing).

Linux Software Raid and Dual Boot

I have heard that it is not possible to set up a dual boot system when using Linux Software Raid (md). Is this true? And if so, could anybody please tell me why? The reason is I have a Promise FastTrak Tx2PLus (PDC20735) quasi-hardware raid controller, with Windows and Linux installed on two SATA drives as RAID 0, ...

Mplayer dependencies

Whenever i try to install Mplayer, a whole long list of dependencies come out. Is there like a command that can automatically download all these files and install them form terminal. I tot i read abt it somewhere.

my web browsers keep hanging

I'm using red hat 9 now and whenever i use either mozilla , firefox or galeon for some time, it will hang. But when i use konquerer or opera, it doesnt hang. I was thinking that maybe its the GECKO problem with my installation.

when i run starcraft with wine my resolution will decrease(from 1024 by 760 to 640 by 480) and my starcraft wont run!!! what shall i do??

about mandrake 10. when i run the coomand startx, it wont run!!! i think that it really needs the disk 4. is there a way to install mandrake 10 without the disk 4 but still can run startx???.

USB Problem with ABIT AT7 and Red Hat 9

Hello, I'm new here, and very stuck (and frustrated) with a Red Hat 9 installation problem. I've got a ABIT AT7 motherboard, which is one of those clever legacy free ones. This means I don't have a PS/2 keyboard or mouse port on the machine.

This is mainly to Danleff I would just to say thank you for helping me get everything set up. My P4 had problems running linux even though i used a IDE drive so i rebuilt my old machine and am running it now with the P4 still running win XP.

Hi. . . I installed fedora on my acer. . . it was quite painless. . . then I updated the video card (VIA KM400), and the driver for the touchpad. The problem now is that when I choose to poewr down, it restarts the laptop.

Internet access with RedHat Fedora

Please help, I am using Redhat Fedora, but I cannot connect to the net. I can see the other computers in the network (using ping), but I can't connect to the Internet. When using the Public IP address of the network's email server, I am able to access the email.

I just installed the nvidia drivers for my red hat 9 installation and now i cant boot it up anymore. There will be alot of error messages appearing on my screen and i cant even boot into console mode.
