Hi Im running slack 9. 1 and trying to connect to my netgear router via the netgear wg311 wireless card. I can get the card up and bind it with the router. Problem is, i cant give it an IP this command always report a 'host lookup failure' Code:ifconfig ath0 net 192.

hello, I have just installed ASP-Linux on my laptop and i carnt work out how to network it with my windows 2000 pc. i feel that i have a good understanding on networking. . . well just with windows ;( I have setup a proxy server to share my internet connection.

I decided to try and increase the size of one of my partitions, and deleted a couple that I don't use that were next to it in preparation to expanding it somehow. hdb6 was full, and hdb7 and hdb8 were empty, so I killed the latter two with fdisk.

Linux on Acer Aspire: HELP ME

Hi, i'm a newbie. I have installed linux Mandrake 9. 2 Downaload Version on my Acer Aspire 1203X (i have also WinXPpro). My problem is: When i start linux, he start all, but after he have start the eth0, he start the PCMCIA but he make nothing, for 30, 40, 50 minutes.

Messed up the Panel

I'm running Blag a Red Hat 9 distro. I removed one of the little divders that is in the lower panel. Now when ever I open something that program does not appear in the bar so if I minimize it it disappears completely.

My brother gave me his old notebook, which has no PCMCIA slot. After installed Debian on it, I'm trying to make it connected to Internet wirelessly, but I'm just a linux beginner. I have no idea what to do.

hey. . ive been trying to get sound on RH9. . but its not working. . ive ran the autodetect thinggy. . and every time i try and play the test sound it dosnt play anything. . . im using onbord sound on the asus A7V8X-X mobo.

i installed mandrake 9. 2 on my 3rd harddrive ( after some changes. . . ) and it is configured and every thing is fine but it will not take my password such as if i was to put in the login then i hit enter for the password line my keyboard does not work the enter and control+alt+del but it wont work, did i do somet ...

I have two questions: Can you skip files after you've started to update?(like when i'm try to update my orig fedora, it has 159 update available, but mozilla sometimes can't find a server and it stop the entire yum update command, can i just push a button or somethign to just skip that file? ) Second, since yum did ...

Got my new dvd installed, and installing linux as i type this=p windows sucked having to be in it. . . anyone know any reason why my dvd drive was affecting the performance of my cd burner drive too? They both do feed into the same cable but still.

I recently installed gentoo, which is great, but I've had some trouble getting kde setup. The emerge on kde worked, and I can get xwindows up, but i'm having trouble starting kde. When I run startx kde opens, but gives the error: Quote:Could not start kdeinit.

Can't reboot after installing a Lynksys lne100tx.

I just configured a Lynksys lne100tx, and ran into two problems after setting it up Suse. Fisrt I plan to use this to connect to the internet through a window xp machine, which didn't work, the second problem is that on reboot, Suse hangs, when it tries to start the network card.

Ok so this is the first time ive actually installed the linux Os on anything. I have an abit kr7a-133R motherboard with an AMd xp 1600 processor. I use two WD drives one is 6. 4GB and the other is 20.
