Hi all, I just joined linux compatible. I have been using linux for a couple of years and now I use mandrake 9. 1. I am no guru and I use it simply to get work done. However, now I would like to try out kde 3.

my unversity account has changed servers. . and i can't use ftp anymore. . i've been trying to use gftp without success. the only thing i've done was changing the setting from FTP to SSH2 i try to connect using sftp://username@servernameblablabla i get this error: could not parse URL anyone know how to properly set ...

problems with compiling

Hi. when i download a program and try to install it. I extract it. Then run. /configure. Then when i run make it fails. Is there anything that i'm doing wrong. Do i have to extract it to a certain directory.

Fedora & ASUS A7N8X-Deluxe Mobo

I just downloaded a copy of fedora core 1 I upgraded from an old soyo motherboard to a new Asus A7N8X-Deluxe with dual on board lan. It reognizes some lan drivers, but has irq labelled as unknown. Logically my network card wont activate when i try to activate it.

Hi all, my sound card works fine, but i cant play audio files. . . like mp3 or just audio cd's etc. . . . Does anyone know wich plugins or codecs etc i must install. i prefer the RPM packages for my Distro RedHat 9.

I tried to mount it, and nautalius always has erro,b ut it then puts the icon on my desktop, it reads it, but when i try to get the icon to go away via eject it says: Nautilus was unable to unmount the selected volume.

Help with Fedora Core 1?

Hey guys I just installed Fedora core 1 on my computer. . . everyone is right. . . . Fedora is lightning fast for some reason. I have messed around with Manadrake 9. 2, Morphix, Knoppix, and now Fedora.

Mandrake 9.2 wont find my Raid controller

Hi I have a IC7-G Motherboard with a Intel ICH5 Raid controller. Anyone know if Mandrake 9. 2 supports this controller? Because it doesn't find any disks under the disk detection during the install.

Hey guys, I have a quick question. . . . i hhave heard you can connnect to the internet through another comp. . . . how do i do it? Sadly its between two windows xp laptops. . they internet is wireless(one of the laptops doesn't have wirelss card).

I have 2 HDs. On the first HD I have installed windows and on the second linux mandrake (with lilo bootmanager). Now when i want to boot with only my first disk (second disk is not connected to pc) i get error.

Is Partition Magic still useful for a dual boot system?

In the old days of two/three years ago, I needed to use Partition Magic for a successful dual boot system of Mandrake 6. 2 running Corel Office 2000 and Windows 98. I want to migrate to an open database by purchasing Mandrake 9.
