Fedora, Kernel 2.6, Nvidia driver install issues.

I installed Fedora with no problems. Installed the rpm version of kernel 2. 6 with no problems. Now I seem to be having some issues getting the Nvidia drivers installed. According to everthing I've looked up you have to patch the nvidia driver source before running a make install.

nVidia has released drivers for the nforce2 motherboards, available at nvidia. com's driver download page. If you follow the instructions there you won't have a problem. However: The nvaudio driver can be a little buggy at times.

hi. i'm fairly new to linux, and i like messing around with it. but after a reboot once, im brought to the login screen (gui), i put in my username and pass, and it starts to load, then the screen goes blank, and im shot back to the login screen.

I would like to update the kernel to version 2. 6, but I don't know where to put the updated files. I have heard that the kernel is generally in usr/src/linux, although that directory does not exist in Suse 9.

I'm using Linux from Lycoris and it's using the KDE desktop. . . . i'm having trouble installing and using yahoo messenger. I have the following file: rh9. ymessenger-1. 0. 4-i386. rpm I click the file and it installs, but that's where I'm lost.

ok. . . this is really starting to annoy me, but when u install some extra programs from the pacakages menu under configuration, it always messes up some desktop icons, and quite a few or all the icons in the kicker.

Hi there, i have installed RedHat linux 9 and internet works fine and the sound etc too, but if i put a music disc (audio cd) there come's no sound, i think its something to do with the codec. Does anyone know what the problem is? And i dont know how i must let the java applets work.

I don't know if anyone here can help on this, but my GeForce4 Ti4200 has a problem with its cooling fan. Apparently if the GPU is cold, the fan is sort of jammed, and won't spin on a cold start, which of course leads to the chip's overheating and 3D accelerated games and apps crash.
