help with XFConfig86 for GF4 Ti 4600

When i try to edit my config file using this command(under failsafe without GUI) vi /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 i get this screen; ~ < this tilde sign from top to bottm of the screen ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ /etc/X11/XF86config-4 0,0-1 all I can't work with this.

Radeon 8500LE 128meg will not enable fast write.

I have a Radeon 8500LE 128 meg video card, and I can not get the fast write function to work. I have it set in the bios to enable the fast write option, but everytime I go on my desktop and go into properties to enable fast write for my video card it asks me to reboot but when I go back it is still not enabled.

Me and my brother recently put together a Pentium 166mmx together with so leftover hardrives and stuff. I would like to try out some old games that I zipped up a long time ago on that computer but these old games are on CDRWs and wont work in that drive.

I was just wondering, if anyone has been able to get a Phillips Acoustic Edge 706 sound card to work in Gentoo, Redhat or Mandrake. I have never found anything on this anywhere. If someone knows how to do it or where I can go to get this piece to work please help me out.
