Hi,
I had a Software Raid 1 running on two Maxtor 40GB's on RedHat 7.3. At one point /proc/mdstat was reporting that hdc1[2](F) (failed). However linux still detected /dev/hdc ok.
First of all, the drives have the same model # but redhat reports different CHS's?? Is that possible?
Second, I have repartitioned the drive and I am currently rebuilding (recovering) the array.
Anyone know why it would report (F) above but the drive is still ok? Is the drive still ok? Are there some tests to make sure everything is ok?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
