how to setting up lan in mandrake 9.1?

i use a sis 900-based fast ethernet adapter for my lan and mandrake dont seem to detect it i tried to configure it in the madrake netork and internet connection thingy but it still wont go. . my red hat 9 was ok with it and worked fine but mandrake dont seem to take it to good can someone tell me what to do ir give ...

how to get rid of old kernel?

hi i'm running red hat 9 and just compiled a new kernel. . . now I have two kernels I can boot from at GRUB boot loader, my new kernel works just fine, so my question is how do i get rid of the old kernel? i don't just want to remove it as a boot option from the grub.

I'm a total noob. . . love being a total noob. Okay, I downloaded ATI's little driver kit from their site. . . says i need XFree 4. 2. 0 or whatever. I guess I found Xfree's site, but that stuff is just WAYYYY too confusing.

Hi! I've just recently set up my TV to play DVD's through my computer. The picture is great and everything works fine except for one thing. The audio comes through with an echo. It's not clear and is quite annoying.

Anyone got this to work? it crashes on single player and it wont let me connect to any servers. But other than this it does work on multiplayer. The crash bug has been reported allready bugzilla. icculus.

The LAN card driver. . . . de-ja-vu (over a month now on Red Hat 8. 0). . . . Red Hat 9 seems to fix the sound problem, plus the onboard 1394 controller is recognized, but still no Network controller seen.

ntl Cable Modem doesn't work with Mandrake

My ntl Cable Modem is made by Ambit. Mandrake Recognise it but internet does not come. Knoppix which boot from CD-ROM. Recognise it and i can run the internet from the Knoppix. My cable Modem Attached with USB.

I am using Bell Sympatico high speen internet under RedHat9. 0. When I am connected to the internet, my connectiion automatically goies off and then comes in. I used the pppoe that came with RedHat9.

I am so confused by this problem because I know it shouldn't exist. I have installed a program called GEANT4 and spent the past 2 weeks trying to get it to run. Yesterday it did run and today it does not, and I couldn't understand how this is possible.

I recently just installed Red Hat Linux 9. 0 on ASUS P4S533-MX mobo. Everything seemed to work fine, but only the on-board soundcard (AD1989) and the on-board ethernet card (SIS962L or SIS651 integrated chipset) that were not recognized by RHL 9.

I'm running slackware 9. 0 and i updated the kernel to 2. 4. 21, and i ensured i enabled the ATA block device for the Silicon image in the kernel config, but on boot the system fails to detect the controller, am i leaving something out?.
