Samba 4.23.4 released
The latest stable release of the Samba 4.23 series has been announced, bringing new fixes and enhancements to this widely used open-source file and print sharing system.
This update covers several fixes and improvements related to sharing files and folders. The developers resolved several bugs from previous versions. For instance, backups using Time Machine should now work correctly with this new release if they didn't before. There were also issues concerning the mdssvc service, winbind cache consistency, and a function called vfswrap_openat, which could cause problems when handling directories; these have been addressed.
Also worth noting is that the samba-bgqd daemon's man page has been updated alongside other changes. The team tackled some crashes linked to cluster lock setups as well as network connection troubles in Samba 4.23.4.
If you run into any issues or problems after downloading, please report them through Bugzilla over at lib.samba.org/bugzilla. Effective information will really help the developers figure things out quickly and effectively.
You can grab Samba from the official site. The source code tarballs are signed with GnuPG for your peace of mind, so you know what you're getting. Just head to the stable releases page if you want uncompressed files or need the patches.
