KDE Plasma 6.4.2 has been released and incorporates various minor enhancements. The update features a partial rollback of a solution for CAP_WAKE_ALARM in Powerdevil, attributed to constraints within systemd. The update encompasses resolutions for several issues, including the absence of a visibility check for items in framePainted, modifications in output management, and the implementation of a blacklist for spectacle popup menus. The updates encompass enhancements to Plasma Desktop configuration, as well as adjustments to OSDs on the LockScreen, including corrections to previously identified issues with OSDs on the LockScreen. The Plasma Audio Volume Control has undergone enhancements, and the Plasma Workspace has received updates. The update incorporates enhancements for displaying bytes in detail, prevents the occurrence of multiple QMenus when the global menu is configured to compact, and modifies the URL for the locations list. The update incorporates a systemd disablement for CAP_WAKE_ALARM along with a resolution for the screenshot delay issue.

Plasma 6.4.2 is now released

Today KDE releases a bugfix update to KDE Plasma 6, versioned 6.4.2.

Plasma 6.4 was released in June 2025 with many feature refinements and new modules to complete the desktop experience.

Due to systemd limitation causing  regression on AD managed systems, fix for CAP_WAKE_ALARM provided in Plasma 6.4.0 release was  partially reverted in powerdevil. If your distribution wants to provide support for alarm wakeups from suspend on Plasma Mobile device, Please manually override plasma-powerdevil.service systemd user unit to pass CAP_WAKE_ALARM in AmbientCapabilities.
