Bazzite Ships Stable Build 44.20260928 With Anbernic Win600 Support
The Anbernic Win600 handheld now works on Bazzite. Universal Blue's gaming-focused Fedora Atomic image delivered its latest stable today, pairing a headline hardware addition with a new kernel and a pile of fixes most users will never see.
For anyone watching the issue tracker, this one's been open since September 21. User sparetimesplunker opened issue #5880 after moving from Bazzite 43 to 44. Their Win600 had dropped two buttons: the Home button and the keyboard toggle. Hardware detection simply refused to classify the machine as a handheld, which masked inputplumber on every boot.
The fix lands here. Bazzite added the Win600 (vendor "Anbernic", product "Win600") to its non-Valve handheld detection, so inputplumber stays enabled by default and the shortcuts behave like a Steam Deck.
It's a small patch, but not trivial one. The device already had an InputPlumber profile waiting around. It just needed the detection layer to know it existed. The maintainers are working through third-party hardware one masked service at a time, and this mirrors an earlier fix for the SuiPlay0X1.
Beyond the handheld, the commit history is where the real work lives. There's a Wayland session regression repair (#5850), hibernation support restored where it had been broken (#5781), and a new acpid package for tracking sleep events on the Deck.
Bazzite also swapped its default editor from Vim to msedit. It's desktop-friendly enough, but on a 5-inch handheld you're squinting, so a readable editor actually matters. Meanwhile the Intel AX200 and AX210 Wi-Fi cards got a d3cold workaround for wake-on-Wi-Fi issues, and Logitech racing-wheel owners have their new-lg4ff driver back after being dropped.

Bazzite doesn't run stock Fedora kernels. It tracks the Open Gaming Collective kernel, or OGC, a stable-tree mirror tuned for gaming gear with BORE and LAVD schedulers bolted on.
This build pushes that kernel to v7.2.7. The interesting detail is the revision label shifting from ogc3.1 to ogc1.1, which points to a rebuild of the packaging series rather than a routine point bump. The NVIDIA LTS variant moved to 6.18.52.
Gamescope crept to 3.16.29. NVIDIA drivers advanced to 615.71.09-2 for the open stack and 580.178.04-2 for LTS. You can now layer Android apps on NVIDIA builds with a new waydroid-nvidia package, though gaming-mode support on NVIDIA hardware is still beta.
One theme here is Bazzite leaning harder on Terra, the community repo pitched as "the 1000+ packages Fedora doesn't ship." It swapped ddcutil for terra-ddcutil and pulled wireplumber out of Terra. Simple change. Meaningful one.
Terra runs on the Rust-based Andaman toolchain and builds packages in a secure environment run by the Fyra Labs team. Nobara, Ultramarine, and RakuOS have jumped on it too. Not every distro needs it. But for a gaming build chasing driver freshness, it's a reasonable move.
