Linux, DVI and KVM Switches

I have installed a IOGear GVS1764 4 port DVI KVM switch. The goal is to share a USB mouse and keyboard and a LCD display between one Dell Inspiron Laptop and 2 Dell towers running RHEL 4. 0. Everything on the laptop is working fine.

ok, ive taken apart my toshiba satellite 1110 laptop, trying to locate the cmos battery - can anyone give me any clue where it is located or what the heck it actaully looks like ??

I just built a new system with: Gigabyte M59SLI-S5 MB AMD X2 5200+ CPU 2GB Corsair XM2 DDR2 800 Ram EVGA 7950GT 256mb pci-e Video 2 WD 160GB SATA2 HDD (RAID zero) 1 WD 250GB SATA2 HDD (Storage) Samsung SH-S162L DVD-burner I installed XP without any problems.

Anyone know of any Linux drivers for this tv tuner. They are not on the ATI site, and i could not find them googling. Just wondering if any open source drivers were out there if if ATI will have support for Linux any time soon.

Abit AX8 motherboard with Ubuntu - is it a no-go?

I've been wanting to install Ubuntu on my PC but when I boot from the CD and get through to the GUI I realise it doesn't detect my SATA hard drives. These are connected to the onboard controller. There's no info on the lists here about the AX8, and I can't find any drivers anywhere that say they're compatible with ...

updating - what components best?

I'm about to update my old HP Pentium 900 with a new motherboard, graphics card, modem, and memory. I will be running Linux and XP (I do NOT want to to do Vista) probably Suse or Ubuntu. I would appreciate any advice about components that are most compatible.

I used KMenu> System Settings> Printers to set up my Brother hl1240 laser printer. I use the foomatic hl1250 (as recommended). I go through all the steps ok and it prints out what I thought was a test page during the setup wizard and I finish.

OK, here's a really strange problem. I just installed a new Radeon X1650 Pro card, and it works fine except one little glitch. In linux (Mandriva 2007), my monitor displays this box that says input not recognized that floats around the desktop.

Audigy problem on Mandriva 2007

I recently bought a new Audigy Platinum eX sound card, and I only get a muffled sound from it. I have used an Audigy card with linux before without any problems, so I don't know why this one is different.

Modem with TD line always high

I installed an Actiontec EX560LKU external serial/USB modem and connected it to a serial port. The TD light remains lit and the modem will not respond to commands. Another identical unit behaves the same way.

hi, can anyone please assist me as in how to get rid of GRUB. I have a HP compac presario Laptop. I was trying to install PCQlinux on it. The Cd from which i was installing gave an error saying it cant read from the cd.

I want to build a new computer with Mandriva or SuSe Linux installed but I get the feeling that no 775 motherboard in the marketplace is supported. So I think to myself what is the best bet for Linux? So then I think go with intel chipset P965+ICH8R and motherboard Foxconn P9657AA-8EKRS2H.

Hey folks, I recently (thanks to danleff's help) succeeded in installing FC5 on my system. Actually, I am currently writing this posting on my computer running FC5. How exciting. At any rate, I love the OS, although I am rather new at it.
