Ok, my question is two parts - completely seperate, and I'm not sure if they'd both apply here. My first issue is this: I recently installed suse 10 to a removable hard drive (removable drive bay). I have my main install of windows xp pro on my first (hda0) drive, where grub loads from.

I am trying to install FC4 on an HP DL385 (2 AMD Opteron CPU's + smartarray controller). The install goes smoothly, and all the hardware is correctly recognized. Module cciss is loaded, and disks are seen as /dev/cciss/c0d.

I hope this is the appropriate forum for this question. I am in the process of building a new system and would like to start using Linux as well. My concern is, how problematic will it be(if at all) to install a SuSE 10 distro using a ASUS A8N motherboard? Any opinions or advice will be much appreciated.

I am facing issues with my netwok configuration in fedora core 4. When i run network config wizard, it doesn't give me an option of any USB network device. I have got a DSL modem installed on USB port and so can't make out how to make it work in Fedora.

Hi all, I have installed Fedora core 3 on VMWare 4. 5 with the host OS being RedHat linux9. THe installation completed without any error. At partition it took /dev/sda (I dont know whether it is creating problem).

fc4 install fails

my pc's already dual boot - I use suse 9. 1 pers mostly, and w2k occasionally. I don't really want to break either. I installed fc4 from dvd, and it all appeared to go ok, but the boot was unchanged - just offered suse & w2k.

Where can I get information on installing fedora core 4 on a sada raid0. It is software raid. I already have windows XP and windows server 2003 installed with 4 other partitions. From what I can see fedora is only seeing the sda not the sdb.

I downloaded the ISO images x86 from for my AMD Athlon PC. According to the documentation, you are supposed to be able to boot with the ISO images. I also downloaed an ISO image extractor from I thought extracting the image would help but it didn't work either.

Hi, I'm first time Linux user, possible convert, but I can't get 10. 0 SUSE Prof. to recognize the DSL or the home network (at least not as near as I can tell). I DID have a problem with disk#4 being unreadable, and so I downloaded a disk 4.

I have FC4 installed onto an EIDE 40gb WD drive running on a dell optiplex gx280. I can connect and see my external hard drive, but i can see neither of my two sata ntfs formatted hard drives that are connected to the comptuer.

I have an IBM T40 laptop with an Intel8x2 Soundcard. After a fresh install of SuSE 9. 3 everything worked. I updated the wireless card from Intel2100B to a Intel2200BG. Suddenly I have now sound. I have checked and rechecked and everything seems to be ok.

I just started using Linux,,again. Finally things seem to be going better this time around. What I want to know is, How do I check to see which kernel I'm running? I'm running SUSE 10, now telling me is fine, but I still want to know how to check it myself.
