Question I am using linux live CDs. I use Knoppix 3. 7 and Kanotix x-2004. In my disply settings i only have one choose of pixels. 600x480 is all i have for the screen resolution. How can i fix this? Thanks, Stephen.

A major hurdle to going full out Linux was playing an assortment of video files. I am running Suse 9. 1 Personal which is ok for pretty much everything else besides multimedia (kinda weak in that department).

I got installed Fedora on my laptop today. I am totally new to LINUX. I have no idea what it really is. Actually, It took me 10 minutes to figure out how to shutdown(to find that in the menu list),when I logged in for the first time.

Nautilus keeps crashing everytime I start the file manager

Everytime i open the file manager to access my files, the screen will hang and i get this error msg The application nautilus has quit unexpectedly Then i'll have to close nautilus. So now i can't get graphical access to any of my files.

(On an old system)I could not boot from my Mandrake 10. 0 official CD. I formatted C:\ but still could not boot from the CD. I therefore installed XP PRO and could then proceed with the installation (reformatting as I went).

These questions might sound stupid but i've tried googleing and i can't find the answers! once i installed linux it worked fine untill i rebooted, now i cant get past the login screen, i know the password i use is right, and i can get to the failsafe terminal.

Computer won't boot after running Knoppix

after running knoppix on a Pentium 4 DELL GX260, the computer will no longer boot from the HD when you turn it on, nothing happens. . no feed to the monitor or anything. is there a way of fixing this?.

Un-installing Mandrake 10 in order to reinstall with broadband modem

I have a broadband connection through Wanadoo (UK) and understand that in order for the modem to be recognised by mandrake I should uninstall mandrake (reformat my hard disk) and then plug in the hardarew before reinstalling - can anyone give an idiot guide to this please

OK well i had a problem with the bootloader but thats fixed. The only problem now is this annoying DISABLING IRQ# error First its #11 i disabled it in the bios, it then is #5, disabled that then its #15.

New Mandrake 10.01 User

Hello I just installed mandrake 10. 01 I am new To Linux But Not Computers. . . and YES I know Linux is not windows 🙂 I downloaded the dvd ISO, Burned it booted from it installed it on it's own 60gig HD, setup up a dule boot as I am not ready to leave xp.
