newbie trying to configure sound card

I have just installed my first ever Linux system and was very excited till i tried using sound. yast2 will not install or configure my sound card, the card is ES1869 plug and play audio drive, this card is integrated into the mother board.

Install problem wRH 8.0

My original problem after RH 8. 0 install was kernel panic-unable to continue. More details: Mother Br. Sapphire A3-M275, running an AMD Duron proc. 1. 3 GHz, Maxtor 30Gb HD, RAM 256Mb DDR. I installed 3 times from the CD drive.

To whomever: Has anyone experienced problem setting/changing mouse configuration with this product. During install I set the mouse configuration,(Misumi PS2 scroll) test it, ok it and when install is done the configuration has changed.

Autoexec.bat not working?

Helo people!!! Good day to all!!! I cant get autoexec. bat to run. i put it in all directories. Is it called a diffrent name in linux? Where do i must put the autoexec. bat? Sorry for me being linux stupid.

Swapping music files

Is there away to swap music files between XP and Mandrake 9 without saving them to a disc and doing a reboot. Also is there a video player available besides X-ine which I can't seem to get wmv type files to play.

Bootable CD1 Of Beta 3?

Anyone else had trouble with the bootable CD? I have downloaded beta 3, cd 1 twice from 2 different sources, and the CD does not match what it says in the readme and is not bootable. Neither is 2 or 3.

I have a small problem. It appears a Redhat linux 7. 2 machine was hacked and when i shut it down and rebooted, well it didn't. it stops looking for directories that are not there and then stops at lo.

Why XFT eats so many mem?

I wrote a small test program using XFT rendering fonts. 'ps -aux' shows it used ~18M mem, why so terrible? thanks very much!.

Why can't I use X with 32MB of Ram?!?!?!

system specs: celeron 333a 32mb sdram i810e integrated graphics & sound. Distro = Mandrake 9. 0 when i tried startx at the console, I get an EE error claiming that only 6MB is available for AGP and it's not enough to start X in any available video mode.

Solution : (for SUse8.1pro)

As i said in the other topic the solution for the SUse 8. 1 pro installation prob was to run install with the option : hwprobe=-c03:*:* and before the reboot vim /mnt. . . /YaST2. firstboot and usb=yes to usb=no Till the prob will be known cause it's still unknown you'll have to work w/o usb support *The prob refer ...

Put icons back on desk top

How do you put icons back on the desk top screen I deleted the cdrom icon by mistake now I can't even find it in the menu's anywhere. Does mandrake suck to set up or is just me :x.
