Mandrake 10 install freezes / fails.

Hi, I downloaded the Mandrake 10 Community disc (1-3). I installed previously with these disc with no problems. I'm on the same system trying to install again and here's what happens. - Freezes while checking /hda6 - Towards the end (using disc 3) it starts to report it's failing to install packages.

baseurl not found in yum

Hi All, I added this, name=Dag RPM Repository for older Red Hat Linux baseurl=http://apt. sw. be/redhat/$releasever/en/$basearch/dag to my RH9 yum. conf and got the below error when up yum. Error: Cannot find baseurl or name for server 'dag'.

Hi All, I'm logged in as root, but, when choosing properties, it says I'm not the owner. I also changed the file's permissions, to allow w for others, and then edited in gedit, but, when saving, it said it couldn't save the file.

linux xorg pciexpress?

Just got a new dell with the ati radeon x800se pci express, can't find support for it in xorg. . . anyone know how i manage to get it? i'm in gentoo. . . anyone have any luck with these pci express cards yet? (yeah the nvidia card was 200 dollars more or else i woulda got it=().

This may seem a silly question but how do i find out what Kernel shell i have? I am trying to setup the net and Mandrake 10. 0 found the modem, i grabbed a linux driver from Conexant (manufacturer).

mandrake install hang

hey; trying to install mandrake 10 on a pc. install hangs after the install splash screen. tried to boot in text mode and this is the last four lines of code. . . checking 'hlt' instruction. . . ok checking for popad bug.

I recently installed Mandrake 10. 0 Am enjoying it nicely. I am sort of clicking about, getting a feel for things and i noticed the Root folder is locked. I click on it and it says you dont have permission etc.

I've been testing a new distro called ubuntu linux it's based off of Debian and comes with gnome 2. 8, kernel 2. 6. 8. They have some interesting ideas in there. It's worth a look imo. It uses the debian installer and does an excellent job at hardware detection for the three systmes I've installed it on.

access ot files from Win to Linux

How can i get access to my movies and mp3:s from my Windows partition, with Linux (Fedora core 2). My windows harddrive is partitioned as NTFS. I have searched google with no good results. . . i would appreciate if i could get some help.

mandrake 10 install problem

I am limited to using a usb keyboard/mouse, as my ps2 ports appear to be shot (just stopped working one day) Here is the problem. I start the install fine but after a certain period of time I get a series of two or three beeps from the box and boom mouse keyboard dead.

Streaming media in Linux...

So far i've got everything nicely up and working with Linux but still got a problem with streaming media like quicktime and realplayer. . Does anyone have a solution for this prob? I've already tried mplayer-mozilla plugin and totem-mozilla plugins but to no avail.

Linux isnt remembering my preferences for opening file types

I set Konquerer to open rm and ram files with realplay, and it lasts for a session but its not remembering them in future sessions or reboots. Do I need to konfigure this somewhere else? Also I want to get.

Hello everyone Its been a while since I've been on this forum but now I'm back. Thanks to help from people here I have been using Red Hat 9 happily for a few months. Well maybe not so happily. . . I'm never going back to Windows now but I really hope I can get a better distro.
