Mandrake 10 Linux Manual - Agustin's Linux Manual Second Edition

Does anyone has a comment on Agustin's Linux Manual Second Edition? I know it is available at , it is based on Mandrake 10 as to my knowledge. Is it really true it covers IPtables and proxy server? I will appreciate any comments.

How do I uninstall mandrake 10.0 without deleteing the partion?

I need to know how or is there a way that I can uninstall mandrake 10. 0 without deleteing the partion so I can install suse linux where mandrake used to be? Or would it be ok if I were to just manually delete all the mandrake files and folders and then just install suse there? Can anyone please help?.

How to patch Orinoco drivers

I'm running Fedora Core 2 (2. 6. 7. . ) on a Dell Inspiron 2600 laptop with an Orinoco Gold 802. 11b card. I have been trying to run Kismet, but I get lost when I need to update the Orinoco drivers. (Basically I'm a linux newbie.

Fedora Kernel Perfomance Upgrade

I get battered on a daily basis from alot of my friends in the linux community about using fedora due to the slow kernels that they are posting which really didn't bother me until I tried a new kernel.

problem with sound in FC2

I have this weird sound problem with FC2 which is that i don't seem to have sound in many apps in FC2. All the games that i run in WINE like diablo 2 have no sound. UFO Alien Invasion and chromium b.

when i try to mount a shared folder in windows xp using samba no error would occur but when i open the mounted share and try to type ls i get some message in my command prompt saying: ls. :Stale NFS file handle.

Dual booting Linux with WinXP

Hi, I am a complete begginer to Linux. I decided to try it at home. The configurations of my computer before installation was: A 40gig drive partitioned into 2 drives, C(WinME) and D where D has WinXP I installed Linux(Lycoris Desktop/LX) on the C drive.

How to share files with WinXP?

Hello, I know that in order to share files between WinXP and Linux, I need to resore files in FAT32 format. But I don't know how to retrieve the file which is restored in FAT32 format when my PC is in the Linux (Mandrake 9.

Problem installing Fedore Core 2

I decided to install Fedora Core 2 in place of the RedHat 9 I had been running. I ordered the CDs from CheapBytes, backed up my important files, booted from CD 1. Got through the initial screens (asking what type of install, disk partitioning, etc), formatted the drive, started installing the files.

Associating Shell Scripts In Nautilus/gnome in FC2

The usual newbie disclaimer. . . . . Using Nautilus under Gnome I somehow ended up permanently associating shell scripts (MIME type application/x-shellscript) with gedit. No big deal - I deleted the association - but now I cannot get the script to execute.

what does the error in samba mean: stale NFS file handle. why is it that when i try to view my entire network in windows xp i c my samba server but when i try to access it i get error message saying that access is denied, i may not have enough permission to access it what should i do, i already made a share in my smb.

How to log into Mandrake as ROOT ?

Hi, I'm a beginner with Linux and I would like to change the permissions of some folders (on another partition) to make them writable (change to 777). The only way to do it is to log as ROOT if I understand correctly.
