I have an ols Compaq with a P100, 64MB of ram a 1GB hard drive, 16 MB video Card and I am running windows 98 on it right now ( very slowly). Now the question I have is which Distros to use ??? Thanks in advance.

I finally got it installed BUT i need help

Ok I finally got my mandrake 9 installed But i can't log on when i get to the part were it wants a login and password it won't go past that screen. I type in Root for a login and the my password but it says login incorrect any ideas.

Hello, I am new to this forum, but it looks helpfull! I am having problems loading ML 9. 0 onto my new VIA C3 gigapro system. I found some work-arounds at the Mandrake site, but I am looking for a solution to a install problem.

How to make Win98 the default in a dual boot system

I successfully installed a dual boot Red Hat Linux 7. 2 - Windows 98 last year following some simple instructions from I know no where. Linux is the default system that loads after a few seconds if I fail to select Windows.

Suse 8.0: Can't change root background!

When I first logged on as root I changed the red background with something that didn't hurt my eyes so much, but after I rebooted it was all back. I can not change the background the color of the desktop font.

Format partition with mandrake

hey im not liking mandrake and i would like to go on to REDHAT8. I have got the cds for it, but how do erase the partition with mandrake on it. I am dual booting with win98 and mandrake. If someone could help me erase that partition or just format it so i can install redhat to that partition.

im trying to install linux redhat 8. 0 for the first time, i have created a boot disk as instructed , i booted the machine and started the install when it asks for the images for the installation from the cdrom or the hd i choose the cdrom and it says it can not find any images.

How to boot into linux now?

I installed XP, and then Linux in the same HD (I only have 1), but, of course, different partitions. Using LILO everything worked fine for some time. Then i had some trouble with XP and had to reinstall it.

hi i installed linux suse 8. 1 all went very well , tried to ping own ip with intel pro100 nic card no results , tried to ping other machine no results , tried to configure adsl olitec interface does not sync line , any solutions will be great.

Mandrake 9.0 and VMware 3.2 - dos it work??

I can't install Mandrake 9. 0 on my VMware 3. 2. I did'nt have any problem with 8. 2. but 9. 0 kills itself just before the graphical installer comes on. I can make a screen dump of the problem but i would first like to hear if anybody has succeded in making 9.

Installing Maya 4.5 on Linux

I use this program alot for work on Windows 2000. I heard that it is possible to run it on Linux and be more stable and a bit faster. How would I go about doing this? I use Redhat 8 if that makes much of a difference.
