Well sounds like there are quiet a few newbie posts on the boards, so I thought I'd add to it. I'm creating a multiple boot test box, with multiple OS installed. I am installing windows 2k, windows server 2003, and Mandrake linux 10.

Hey I reinstalled WinXP and lost the grub bootloader. I know this has been asked alot and ive read several answers but havent found anything that works for me. #/sbin/grub-install /dev/hda gives that grub cannot be found, although its there.
What about FreeBSD?

What are your opinions on FreeBSD? Is it good? Does it run fast on low end hardware? Ive heard that its good as a workstation. I have a copy of it on CD(FreeBSD 5. 2. 1 mini-install) but it's the Mini-install version which means it uses the internet to download some apps.

Hi guys. When i try to install Mandrake 10, when the setup asks for the 3rd CD, i insert it and it shows again the message saying to insert the 3rd CD. I burned another CD, downloaded again the 3rd CD, nothing worked.

Hi Afte much research and consideration I finally decided to give Mandrake 10 a shot. After downloading the 3 packs I burnt them as image on CD and then reinstalled my notebook original config using my system utility.

Suse 8.2/9.1 install issue

Burned iso image onto cd's. Boots up fine, but after I select 'Installation' it loads the linux loader and then goes to a blank screen with a blinking cursor. This happen to both the 8. 2 and 9. 1 versions of Suse.
Fedora Core 2 - CD vs DVD

Hi, I tried once Fedora Core 2 RC, and i got the iso edition (nearly 2GB), it was ok. . . I was looking on fedora website, and I saw they also have a DVD iso edition, nearly 4GB, there is also the CD edition the same as before, 2GB only.

When installing certain packages and hardware, Linux keeps asking for a certain CD and then doesn't 'see' it. Its a download of Mandrake 10. 0 from ISO's burned at 4X onto 3xCDR. I am a Linux newbie and don't know what to do? Part of the problem is that my ADSL modem is askin for CD1, and i cnt get online in Linux ...

i have a dual boot linux mandrake10 and windows xp and i have installed the bootloader at the mbr, how can i remove linux and the bootloader without damaging windows??? can i do it in the windows environment???

Heya folks, Well i finally decided to ditch Windows XP and have a good play with Linux. So, I formatted my drive and installed Mandrake 10 from scratch, leaving it to sort out the partitions itself etc.
