Help with a simple problem..

Hey all reading this, I'm a windows person myself but i am building a machine to simply store files too. I've been thinking and have decided to make it a UNIX base OS. What OS do you recommend for Networking, simple webserver for home use and even a mail server would be great.

Cannot install mandrake 9.2

I have been trying to install Mandrake 9. 2 but without success,the problem is that it gives me a this messages: hda lost interrupt hdc lost interrupt hdd lost interrupt The motherboard that I am using is an ASROCK P4 661-HT motherboard.

Failure to install mandrake 10

i downloaded the isos from the link that was provided here got all the discs and reboot my system everything seems to go well cept when i tell it to install missing theme file hit ignore missing font ignore again then kernel batch file missing do not continue i go back to the packages and just check the essentials ...

Debian DVD jigdo problem

I need to install a Debian sid (unstable) at my home PC where i only have ISDN internet connection. So I'm thinking about downloading it to DVD at work where i have a faster internet connection. I don't want CD.

full disk in MDK9.1 ?

Hello, I've installed MDK9. 1 week ago and to yesterday everything was alright. Tody a try to start computer and after LILO in booting part there was information printed that my disk (partition / ) is full and my X didn't started.

Installing Mandrake 10

Hi guys I currently have a PC running Windows XP Home. I have the hard drive split into 2 (120GB - 80GB C drive and 40GB D). I have windows installed on C and documents (mp3s and uni work) on D. I want to move the documents onto C, and then install Mandrake 10 onto D.

Hello, I'm not very advanced user and I want install on my computer Linux Mandrake 10. May I better wait until May for official version or can I use Community Edition? Are there any fatal errors or gaps in CE?.

can't load gui in White Box Linux using AIW Radeon 9800pro

I installed White Box Enterprise Linux on my comp a couple days ago. However, it can't get into the gui seeming to have something to do with the graphics settings. I have an All In Wonder Radeon 9800pro which linux recognized as a radeon 9800 during installation.

Suse pro 9.0 errors connecting to the net

I have Suse pro 9. 0 installed with winxp,and it its running 100%. But i have run into a problem. Let me explain. . . I have configured my hardware,and network,and network devices. I have a internet connection that is active when i look at the connection icon.

I have a dual boot system with suse 9. 0 pro,and win xp. I was wondering if you can setup the suse firewall so that it acks as a firewall when surfing with win xp?Can this be done?if so can anyone help me out?Thanks alot for all the help.

Hi, I have installed Mandrake 9. 1 onto my computer! I really like it! But there are a few problems I cant seem to fix. . . Tux Racing or any other games that require a graphics card runs really slow.

Best Linux Distro?

Whats the best Linux distro for a pentium 100 with 1gig hard drive whitch uses X windows? Doesnt have to be that pretty or anything. Just has to fit on a 1gig drive and run reasonable. .

hello there. i installed woody and kde 3. 2 using apt-get utility. the kdm starts and when i login it starts a splash screen from kde and an error appears; could not start kdeinit. check your installation.

im a gammer, and sure my desktop that i use for my gamming needs, but sometimes i cant get on the desktop cause other family members are on it (its a windows 2000), and so i would play games on my laptop (when it was still windows) which is now currently mandrake 9.

Really newb question for networking

Hello, I currently have RedHat 9. 0 Installed on my 2 servers. Both are acting really bizarre at system restarts. I can only setup my network manually, anything else fails AND when I reboot, all the configuration I have went through is ignored and my eth0 isn't brought up.
