First time I actually bothered to read the releasenotes on the first CD for once There you can read that you can take the fonts (*. ttf) from windows and put them in /usr/share/fonts and then run the command fc-cache /usr/share/fonts.

Ok used to play with Linux a lot back in the day when made own floppies etc. Ols school. Well since then been corp Network Engineer for a long time users all want ms so dumped Linux. NOw no money=Linux.

Hi everybody, maybe someone could give me a hint, cause i'm sitting in front of a screen with 1600x1200 dpi and so i want to know if it is a good idea to install the 'xft' support for 'mozilla'. Also it is possible to deinstall it? Best regards Thomas Rump.

I have install Mandrake 9 and when I boot it gives me the message that it can't find the Init file. How could I fix this? I have reinstall it many times but I still get the same message. .

Well I couldn't have screwed up more. Linux can't start the x-server now cause it can't resolve the refresh rate of my monitor. The thing is I have no idea how to configire X from the command prompt.

When i arrive on aspell-fr-0. 6-6. i386. rpm ,rh8 fail to copy it. i verify longer of it and ALL OTHER FILES and no difference with several links on redhat mirror site ! i have the same problem with second CD with XFree-4.

Is there a way to have KDE (or GNOME, or anything else for that matter) list MP3 metadata in the file browser so that it can be sorted by album, artist, etc? I am used to this ability in Windows, and I sorely miss it in Linux.

I have just installed redhat 8. 0 and I am having a few problems. 1) In the control center in configuring kernel tab, I made a change as my processor type was selected as pentium 3/celleron, as it is pentium4 so I changed it and at applying was prompted by a message saying you just have to run make symlinks dep.

i have downloaded mandrake 9. 0 , but i can't install it (because some files are missing) so i start to download for the second time and i noticed that the size is 699. 38 MB but in screen is 711264 kb.

Hi, I'm pretty new here so excuse me if this is in the wrong area. I'm running RH7. 2(Enigma I think) with the default Gnome setup. While fiddling with the fonts and things I suddenly noticed that the CD player won't work any more.
