I know this sounds completely stupid. Although, im pretty much a newb at linux. Im getting sick of windows so I need to try something else. I've gotten all three i386 ISO's for Fedora Core 1 and burnt them to a cd using nero.

ok, whenever im not connected to the internet on my linux box (mandrake 9. 2) it always wont start unless if i do it interactivly and dont allow the eht0 to load. . i know what to do. . its just its a pain.

i want to add a module on my kernel but there is linux/kernel. h file not found problem is a big problem give me salution or from where i can reinstall hole kernel librery i install all kernel packeg and librery form intallation CD give me salution for solving this problem.

looking into linux for my brother

Im looking to install a linux distro on my brothers machine. the only thing he uses his computer for is image editing, listening to music and surfing the web. Im more than 1500 miles away from him and cant do tech support that often for him.

mandrake 9.2 woes

hi. i'm fairly new to linux, and i like messing around with it. but after a reboot once, im brought to the login screen (gui), i put in my username and pass, and it starts to load, then the screen goes blank, and im shot back to the login screen.

Updating to kernel 2.6.0 in Suse 9.0

I would like to update the kernel to version 2. 6, but I don't know where to put the updated files. I have heard that the kernel is generally in usr/src/linux, although that directory does not exist in Suse 9.

ok. . . ive been trying to get plug ins for my mozilla to work. . but they just dont wanna work. . . ive tried installing both java and flash plug ins, i restart browser. . . and then it tells me to install again.

ok. . . this is really starting to annoy me, but when u install some extra programs from the pacakages menu under configuration, it always messes up some desktop icons, and quite a few or all the icons in the kicker.

Ok, Im looking around for a compatible version of linux with my Compaq Presario 1700 17XL565 (because I hate Microsoft quite a bit. . . ) Ive tried Mandrake 9. 2 kinda just blindly guessing, install went great, then I hit one error on the restart.

I use mandrake 9. 2 with KDE. However, I often cannot connect to www. The error message is: The connection was refused when attempting to contact XXXXXX. I don't have such a problem when I brower website by using IE in windows environment.

Hello everyone. I’m a new user to Linux. I installed Mandrake 9. 2 in my notebook. When I try to open with any application, the process speed is very very slow. It seemed to take forever to load up the application.
