Wow! This is actually more fun than I thought possible from a Live CD! Be careful though, you'll have full access to your Windows partician (assuming some of you still use that Microsoft stuff). Debian based, KDE desktop, Linux 2.

I have the current system: Toshiba Satellite 2435-S255 About 6 months old Pentium 4 2. 4 gig 512 megs of DDR RAM Firewire USB 2. 0 Firewire 2 PCMIA slots My question is, I have Windows XP installed - as this was the OS that came with the laptop.

Don't get me wrong, I like CLI as much as the next guy, but i can't get any GUI interface to start. i know i set X to start when i was installing, and the startx command didn't work. and i've read where changing the runlevel will fix it, but how does one go about doing that? just some little questions from a linux ...

Problem with X11 and transparency

I'm running clark connect 2. 0 (A minimal red-hat gateway dist) on an old pentium. I shoved X 4. 3. 0, opera and rdesktop on it to use it as a thinnish client. Unfortunatly for some reason when I start X the background is either red bars if it's in 16 bit colour, or green bars for 24bit.

Problem in booting RH Linux 9

Hi, I have a dual-boot machine with Windows 2000 & RH Linux 9 installed. Everything was working fine until, I found that 3GB space was unallocated in the windows partition, so I formatted it as NTFS.

No sound in Mandrake 9.1

I just installed mandrake 9. 1 and I think its better then 9. 0 seems easier to work with. Anyway I can't seem to get any sound when plaing music I looked every where I could think of to configure but I must be missing something funny thing is it worked with 9.
