'out of memory...' error message
This is a discussion about 'out of memory...' error message in the Everything Linux category; And the rest of the message is: Is there another framebuffer device? That happens under: SuSE Linux 8. 1 fully updated Processor AMD Athlon 1. 7 GHz 512 MB of RAM Graphic card: SiS 630 When: Running any sort of application that needs 3D acceleration.
And the rest of the message is: "Is there another framebuffer device?"
That happens under:
SuSE Linux 8.1 fully updated
Processor AMD Athlon 1.7 GHz
512 MB of RAM
Graphic card: SiS 630
When:
Running any sort of application that needs 3D acceleration.
That does not occur with Red Hat 8.0 with the same hardware specified.
I appreciate any comment or help.

Have you installed 3d acceleration? If not then do so if you can.
Also try using mem=512m at the boot prompt before linux loads, linux might be getting mixed signals from the bios about the ram so this should clear that if it is a problem.
