linux swap partition question
This is a discussion about linux swap partition question in the Everything Linux category; Hello, I recently installed FC 5 and chose not to create a swap partition for linux. I was given a message that said having a swap partition would increase the performance of linux. Is it really that much of a difference? and if so, should I reinstall fedora and create a swap partition? Thanks in advance, GoNoles.

The main question is, how much RAM is on your system? If 512 mb or more, there should be no problem.
Or, if you have an older system with limited RAM, then swap is especially useful, as it decreases the need for Fedora to continuiously write to the root partition.
If you have a good partitioning program, you can always add swap space, if needed. A re-installation is not really needed, in this case. You can resize one of the existing partitions to make room for swap space.
