KDE/GNOME/WM Madness
This is a discussion about KDE/GNOME/WM Madness in the Everything Linux category; ;( Houston we have a problem. All of a sudden whenever I boot into RH 8. 0 using KDE or GNOME the machine's response time turns to sh*t! I will take 15-30 seconds to respond to any input (including mouse movement).
;( Houston we have a problem. All of a sudden whenever I boot into RH 8.0 using KDE or GNOME the machine's response time turns to sh*t! I will take 15-30 seconds to respond to any input (including mouse movement). This only happens in KDE and Gnome. I don't have this problem at all in WM. Nothing new had been installed when this started happening.
I have been running RH on this machine for about a year with no problems.
2 Ghz proc
80 Gig HD
512 MB Ram
Can anybody tell me why this may be happening all of a sudden and/or how to fix it?

What is your disk usage on the / partition?
check out with KDiskFree for example.
If you the root partition is found to be full, that could explain the symptoms observed.
