need some help here... situation
PC= Packard Bell
OS= win10
HDD= 1TB - 2 partitions C: (sda 1-4) 500GB Win10 & data files NTFS / D:- (sda 5) 500GB NTFS unused
RAM=4GB

using Ventoy, I installed Mint Xfce v22 on the D drive - formatted as ext4, followed the instructions for dual boot, boot loader on sda1

  • BIOS menu only lists windows boot loader,
  • uefi selected
  • i didn't disable secure boot when installing linux ( duh - is that the problem? )
  • guidance from chatgpt...
  •                  sudo update-grub                      ran OK
  •                  sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt - ran OK no errors
  •                 update-grub
  •                 grub-install /dev/sda
  • exit & reboot

no dual boot - hopefully just my fat fingers missing something simple???

thanks
