Help with DVD

This is a discussion about Help with DVD in the Everything Linux category; OK I admit it. I am totally new to Linux but I like what I see thus far. Problem, what do I need to get my DVD player to work. I think I have everything set up correctly but I get the following error in the Kaffeine Media Player window Xine error:Unknow error.

I would appreciate if someone would provide me instructions on how to get the DVD player working.

Question 2. I have a Dell Axim5 (Pocket PC) is there anyway to sync this with a Linux application? If so what software is needed?

TIA

I should have added that I am using Suse 9.0 and trying to use the Yast application for my installs. Not good with RPMs and Dependancies and all that just yet.

Yast, I think, should have added needed packages, however, I found that this is not always the case. I do not have a DVD installed on my system, but here is a link you might try;

Quick and dirty? I would uninstall the Kaffeine package, if you just installed it, and try installing libxine first, xwine, if not already installed in the process, then Kaffeine. Refer to the link I gave you.

If Kaffeine was installed during the SuSE installation from the start, I have no idea. But there is definitely something missing, such as a library file.

OK, removed everything and installed again. Same problem. Any other DVD player in the Linux world?
