This is a discussion about hdd lost interrupt in the Linux Hardware category; I try install Mandrake 9. 2 linux and it fails from second window I got the following message hdd lost interrupt is not ASROCK motherboard K7S8X compatible with linux mandrake 9. 2 ? Where could I get some ideas about possible solution of my problem please ? ? Thank you.

Do a google search 'linux ASROCK motherboard K7S8X' .
I see you may have a problem there.
Also, I believe that mandrake has a hardware compatability list, and, you might want to look in their forums.

You may also want to look at the Mandrake live cd and see if it detects your hardware, especially the new chipset. This will also give you an indication if it will work.
Add the option "noapic" to the kernel at boot.

je ne sais pas exactement laquelle de ces options était la bonne MAis çà a marché
surtout je ne comprends pas pourquoi il faut déconnecter ainsi certaines fonctions telles que :
Advanced Programmable Interrupt controller
newer version of power management interface

pas de problème
J'ai eu le même problème il y a moins d'une semaine.
Je pense que c'est noapic la bonne option.
Pour acpi je crois qu'il faut plutot mettre acpi=no.
