Gentoo usb support

This is a discussion about Gentoo usb support in the Everything Linux category; how good is Gentoos usb support? i am switching from SuSe 8. 2 pro to gentoo and i need to know if gentoo has any problems with usb support. i use a sandisk memory stick reader and a usb connect for a fuji S5000 regularly i also have a sony clie SJ33 with a usb cradle.

Usb support is in the kernel so it is pretty much distribution independant. But you will need to compile the modules as part of the install.
Bear in mind the first time you install Gentoo you will probably compile the kernel at least 10 times untill you get the hang of it and of what you need.
