Gaim install problem
This is a discussion about Gaim install problem in the Everything Linux category; Mandrake 9. 2 came with gaim but it was an old version that didnt work with msn anymore so I uinstalled it via the software thing in mandrake now when i try to install the new rpm i get this error file /usr/lib/libgaim-remote.

file /usr/lib/libgaim-remote.so.0.0.0 from install of gaim-0.79-0mdk9.2 conflicts with file from package libgaim-remote0-0.68-1mdk
how do i fix this?
Ps I relize I ask a lot of questions but I'm gettting the hang of it

Are you trying to install it via urpmi, or from an .rpm you got off the net?

its an rpm i got from the gaim website
I would do a complete Mandrake update, which will likely include a newer version of Gaim that does work. An update will fix a lot of other problems as well.

no no no the update is BAD it makes it so the programs menu completely break ive tried it before and ALL my programs in the programs menu disapear and I cant even edit the programs menu anymore
Update, did the update for JUST GAIM and it works ok now
Dont know why the update messes stuff up though, mebbe it something that im up[censored] that isnt liking something else?

I felt 9.2 was messed up from the get go. It's funny to think an update would make it even worse..
