ftp: no such tcp service - regular user

This is a discussion about ftp: no such tcp service - regular user in the Everything Linux category; Basically i get this error when trying to use ftp with a regular user. If I'm root, ftp works fine. . . I've checked the permissions of the ftp binary, and everything looks fine. Just wondering if anybody has a solution, or where to try.

OP
figured it out... /etc/services only had -rw------- permissions, changed to -rw-r--r-- and all works
