This external hard disk make and model number are as follows,The model number is Maxtor-120 gb,make-720 series.so we need an application which gives the end user to select the topic from the index.Once selected the topic should be selected from the exrternal hard disk and copied on from the external hard disk to the main hard disk. This application should help to creat a short cut on the desk top. There might be any desk top linux/widows/mac os x.Might even be used by teaching staff on a laptop just by plugging in the external hard disk.It should use USB as an interconnect.Advice me how I should go about this
I have managed to run on windows and Mac but on linux i cant mount and copy the content on linux. This is the requirement. Can anyone help me on this.
.
Thanks
Prem

In linux you will need to have usb-storage compilled as a module most distributions are good to go allready.
